Secretary Skogen: Dialogue good platform for ASEAN-Norway partnership

 MANILA, Aug. 8 -- Consultations are important in maintaining the momentum in every partnership.

This was stressed by Norwegian State Secretary Tone Skogen during the ASEAN-Norway Tripartatite Meeting held at the Philippine International Convention Center, Pasay City Tuesday afternoon.

"Consultations such as these are important for maintaining the momentum in our partnership and for developing it further. Norway highly values the good platform for dialogue and cooperation that the ASEAN-Norway partnership provides," she added.

In the same vein, Skogen said Norway very much appreciate the opportunity to discuss regional and global matters on mutual interest and concern; such as trade, economic integration, maritime issues, climate change, and sustainable development, as well as peace and security policy developments.

"Since the ASEAN-Norway meeting in Vientiane (Laos), we have welcomed several political meetings from ASEAN countries to Norway and Foreign Minister Borge Brende, has visited the Philippines, Singapore, and Myanmar. In addition, a number of other government ministers and state officials have exchanged visits; and these visits reflect a high level of inter-connectivity between Norway and the ASEAN," she emphasized.

Skogen added that ASEAN plays a key role in regional issues and takes active part in global policy discussions, pointing out that it's political forums provide provide valuable opportunities to meet and discuss issues relating to peace, stability, and economic development. (PNA)
