MANILA -- The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has closed down nine bus terminals in Quezon City due to various violations.

MMDA Chairman Danilo Lim, together with personnel of the Quezon City Business Permits and License Office, served the closure order Thursday to ES Transport, Lucena Lines, Amihan Bus Lines, First North Luzon (2 terminals), Golden Bee, Five Star/Pangasinan/Cisco, JAC Liner, and Philtranco which are located in EDSA Cubao.

These bus terminals were found to be non-compliant in sanitary permit, locational clearance, fire safety inspection certificate, mayor’s permit for terminal garage and cargo forwarding, environmental protection waste management permit and violation of MMDA’s nose in nose out policy.

Lim said the management of these terminals have consistently not complied with the regulations despite repeated warnings, thus, the closure.

He added the bus terminals should coordinate with the QC BPLO to resume their operations.

Last July, the MMDA, Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board and the Quezon City local government have ordered the closure of 10 illegal bus terminals operating along EDSA and operating without permits. (PNA)
