LAOAG CITY — As part of empowering more Filipinos to gain more skills and match what is needed in the job market, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) is set to establish an accredited training center in the province.

TESDA Director General, Secretary Guiling Mamondiong confirmed this when he paid a courtesy call on Ilocos Norte Governor Ma. Imelda Josefa “Imee” Marcos to discuss plans about the project.

With the ongoing construction developments in various parts of the province, the Ilocos Norte government is encouraging more students to take up technical and vocational courses as these are the highly in-demand jobs both locally and internationally.

In fact, an increasing number of job recruitment companies are reaching out to Ilocos Norte job seekers to fill in thousands of jobs here and abroad.

Based on their initial talk, Gov. Marcos assured Mamondiong that the provincial government can provide a good site for the establishment of the TESDA training center.

In Paayas village, San Nicolas town, the provincial government has an existing Takuat Training Center TESDA could utilize for its free training program.

Mamondiong said successful TechVoc applicants may be given free lodging, transportation and food allowance during the course of the training. There is also guaranteed employment of the TESDA beneficiaries after completion of their course. (PNA)
