Allacapan, Cagayan placed under state of calamity

ALLACAPAN, Cagayan -- The Sangguniang Bayan here Friday declared the town of Allacapan in Cagayan province under a state of calamity after Tropical Storm Odette immersed 27 villages in floodwaters and destroyed 9, 680 hectares of rice fields.

In a special session, the municipal council passed Resolution No. 102 series of 2017, placing the town under a state of calamity after receiving the report of the Municpal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (MDRRMC) on the damages left by “Odette”.

Mayor Harry Florida said the declaration would enable the affected farmers to access the municipal government’s PHP2-million calamity fund. (PNA)
