MALOLOS CITY, Bulacan -- A total of 5,391 Bulakenyos have benefited from some PHP93 million worth of livelihood assistance provided by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

DOLE Regional Director Ana Dione said the livelihood assistance included various "Negokart" projects and starter kits for identified beneficiaries.

The beneficiaries were marginalized individuals from nine resettlement sites in the municipalities of Pandi, Norzagaray, Bocaue and Balagtas and City of San Jose del Monte, she noted.

Dione said the beneficiaries who received their "Negokarts" and starter kits have all undergone an entrepreneurship development training to ensure the proper management and operations of their businesses.

The fund for livelihood assistance was sourced from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program, otherwise known as DILEEP.

The provision of livelihood assistance will help uplift the lives of many marginal Bulakenyos and their families, according to 69-year-old ambulant vendor Victoria Alejo.

“It is God's blessings that DOLE and the local government provided us some 'Negokarts' which we can use in our livelihood that could uplift our lives," Alejo said. (PNA)
