DAVAO CITY — Authorities released the names of 37 persons believed to have been trapped in the fire that gutted the NCCC Mall in Davao City on Dec. 23.

No less than President Rodrigo Duterte declared a “zero chance of survival” during a meeting with the families of the still missing persons, most of whom are employees of Business Processing Outsourcing company SSI Philippines that holds office at the fourth floor of the said mall.

Duterte told the families face to face that it is almost impossible that there could still be survivors in the fire that gutted the entire mall starting nine in the morning of December 23 and until the morning of December 24.

Experts say that even if the trapped call center agents were able to keep themselves away from the fire, the heavy smoke could still have killed them in minutes.
