Zero firecracker-related incident in Pagadian City

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur -- The police have reported they recorded zero firecracker-related incident during the New Year’s revelry in this city.

Supt. Benito Recopuerto in an interview Tuesday attributed this achievement to the strict implementation of the firecracker ban ordinance and the designation of fireworks display area.

Mayor Romeo Pulmones has designated the City Plaza as the fireworks display center during Christmas and New Year’s Eve revelry.

Reopuerto said that this is the second year this city recorded zero firecracker-related injury since 2016.

He also recognized the effort and support of other government agencies in the campaign against the use of firecrackers like the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), City Health Office and the barangay officials.

This city comprises of 54 barangays 14 of which are classified as urban villages.

Recopuerto announced they would prioritize this year’s campaign against crime those against property, unregistered vehicles and driving without license aside from illegal drugs.

This, as he cited the presence of several unregistered vehicles roaming around the city and drivers without license as well as high incidence on crime against property. (PNA)h
