CAUAYAN CITY, Isabela -- The 5th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army (5ID-PA) based in Gamu town in this province has assured the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) of security in implementing irrigation projects in its area of operations.
Brig. Gen. Bartolome Bacarro of the 86th Infantry Battalion Commander, who represented the Division commander, said the soldiers are ready to respond to any security threats in areas where the irrigation projects are implemented.

The security to be provided by the soldiers will also ensure that irrigation construction will not be halted due to attacks or destruction of the project.

The assurance was made during the stakeholders forum held in Cauayan City on Thursday held at Marco Paulo Hotel with the presence of various sectors in Cagayan Valley region.

Bacarro urged the community to help the soldiers and report or inform them of any security threat, especially in areas where irrigation projects are being constructed.

He said there are soldiers who are deployed in various parts of the region and are securing the construction of infrastructure projects.

Bacarro said the NIA management should inform the soldiers where are the other projects, which will need to be secured.

NIA Administrator Gen. Ricardo Visaya lauded the assurance of the Philippine Army in the region saying forces are always present every time they are informed and the communities are encouraged to help the soldiers to ensure peace and security in their areas. (PNA)
