SAN JOSE De BUENAVISTA, Antique -- Classes in elementary level in two northern Antique towns were still suspended on Wednesday after the heavy rainfall experienced the night before.

Antique Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Broderick Train said Laua-an and Culasi towns continued to suffer from gale-force winds from Tuesday night to early Wednesday morning.

Antique was earlier placed under storm signal no. 1 due to Tropical Depression Basyang on Tuesday.

The storm signal warning automatically suspended classes in primary and high school levels in several towns particularly in northern Antique.

During a press conference on Tuesday for the National State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA) opening here, Train still cautioned residents due to a forecast of another typhoon.

The National SCUAA is set to open on February 18 and will end on February 24.

Train added the national simultaneous earthquake drill on February 15 will push through with Saint Anthony’s College as pilot area.

The different Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management officers will also hold their drills in their own respective jurisdictions.

The drill at the capitol and University of Antique, however, had already been cancelled. (PNA)
