MANILA -- "Basyang" weakened into a low-pressure area (LPA) on Wednesday, but it could still develop into a tropical depression, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

In its 5-p.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA said the LPA was estimated at 220 kilometers south of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.

Palawan, however, will still experience scattered to widespread moderate to heavy rains with possible gusty conditions. PAGASA warned of flooding and landslides.

Quezon, Bicol Region, and Eastern Visayas will also have scattered light to moderate with occasional heavy rains due to the tail-end of a cold front. The weather bureau similarly cautioned of flooding and landslides in these areas.

PAGASA also warned of risky sea travel over the northern and eastern seaboards of Northern Luzon, the eastern seaboard of Central Luzon, and the eastern and western seaboards of Southern Luzon due to the surge of the northeast monsoon. (PNA)
