Imam awarded for acting as Marawi top cop during siege

MANILA -- A police officer who is also a Muslim imam received the Medalya ng Pambihirang Paglilingkod for taking over as a police chief of Marawi City at the height of the siege last year.

Chief Supt. Ebra M. Moxsir, Al Haj, a Maranao Muslim imam with the Philippine National Police (PNP) Chaplain Service, was among the seven officers awarded Monday by PNP Director General Oscar Albayalde for their outstanding and meritorious service.

Moxsir is a graduate of Mindanao State University and has a doctorate in Public Administration.

Aside from Moxsir, also given the Medalya ng Pambihirang Paglilingkod were Chief Supt. Joselito Teodoro Esquievel Jr., Chief Supt. Marlon Ganzon, Chief Supt. Celso Pestaño, Chief Supt. Ericson Velasquez and Chief Supt. Ferdinand Divina.

National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Director Camilo Pancratius Cascolan was also given the Medalya ng Katapatan sa Paglilingkod for his service while director of the PNP Directorate for Operations. (PNA)
