TUGUEGARAO CITY -- Government leaders are upbeat that Nueva Vizcaya’s coffee industry will further be boosted commercially with the implementation of the Vibrant Operations of Industry Clusters for Economic Sustainability (VOICES) project in the province.
Senior trade and industry development specialist, Zenaida Quinto, said Tuesday the project, spearheaded by the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) office in Nueva Vizcaya, can open investment opportunities in the province.
“The VOICES aims to create sustainable industries through improved farmers’ productivity and efficiency and better quality products that would guarantee increased sales volume, higher income, and improved quality of life for Vizcayanos,” said Quinto.
DTI-Nueva Vizcaya officer-in-charge Henry Conel Jr. urged stakeholders to address the sustainability of the coffee industry and other priority industries in the province through the project.
Alberto Pamatian, DTI-Nueva Vizcaya division chief, said workers need to focus on strengthening the priority industries at the grassroots level to enhance potentials for investments.
For his part, acting DTI Regional Director Ruben Diciano encouraged stakeholders to take advantage of the various programs provided by the DTI and other government agencies, such as the VOICES project, that are undertaken to advance the coffee industry and other priority industries in the province.
“Let us work together to create a sustainable coffee industry in Nueva Vizcaya that would contribute to a more vibrant regional economy,” he said.
Coffee industry players -- among them coffee producers, processors, traders, and owners of coffee shops and line agencies -- tackled issues and concerns of the entire value chain, as well as the prospects of the coffee industry. (PNA)
