Chief Supt. Edwin De Ocampo, deputy regional director for administration, identified the two policemen as SPO1 Oscias Gomez and PO1 Rey Lismis, all of Godod Municipal Police Station.

De Ocampo said they were disarmed around 9 a.m. Wednesday in Sitio Rebe, Barangay Mauswagon, Godod, Zamboanga del Norte.

De Ocampo said the two policemen were aboard a  police vehicle traveling from the town of Salug to Godod municipality when 15 heavily armed men, including a woman, believed to be NPA rebels, waylaid them.

He said the NPA rebels fled aboard the Mahindra vehicle and carted away three M-16 Armalite rifles of the policemen.

Domingo Tuyac, a militiaman, also appeared at the police station around 11:35 a.m. and turned over improvised tire fin and rounded steel bar recovered a few meters from where the two policemen were disarmed. (PNA)
