TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)- Cavite will launch its “Konsumerismo sa Kanayunan” (Consumerism in rural areas) in Magallanes town on July 7 to promote consumer protection awareness in the community and ensure its services reach the remotest areas.

DTI-Cavite's Consumer Protection Division announced Monday the project aims to bring DTI’s services to the people of remote areas in Cavite, thereby promoting consumer vigilance and enjoining prosperity of micro businesses in the hinterland through public-private sector cooperation.

The project’s 3-pronged strategic approach involves conducting seminar on Consumer Protection Awareness Advocacy in far flung areas as well as bringing DTI’s “Diskwento Caravan: Sari-Sari Store Edition.”

This would provide the opportunity for the countryside village store owners and relieve them the burden of going to the town proper just to buy their merchandise, and forge partnership with interested parties, primarily with LGUs and with a selected chain of supermarket/major wholesaler/distributor of prime and basic commodities.

For this project, DTI partners with Puregold Priceclub, Inc. for the availment of “Aling Puring” card by target beneficiaries.

The July 7 launching at the Magallanes Covered Court will open its registration at 8:30 a.m. and followed by brief program where local and DTI officials are expected to attend.

The afternoon simultaneous activities includes seminar on Fair Trade Law (FTL, Galbaldon Hall, Magallanes Elem. School), Entrep Mindset/TRAIN Law (Multi-Purpose Hall) and Poster Making Contest for High School Students (Magallanes Elem. School).

There will also be a day-long ‘Diskwento Caravan’ where local residents may avail of basic and prime commodities by Puregold Price Club, Inc. (Puregold) at a discounted price. (PNA)
