SAN JOSE De BUENAVISTA, Antique -- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Antique field office has announced that the new minimum wage rate for Western Visayas will take effect this July 12.
Melisa S. Navarra, head of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Antique field office, said in an interview Tuesday that the Wage Order Number RBVI-24 was reached after a series of public hearings by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB).
“The new daily minimum wage rates for the non-agriculture/ industrial/commercial sector employing more than 10 workers would be PHP365 from the previous PHP323.50 while for those employing 10 workers and below it would be PHP295 from PHP271.50,” Navarra said.
She said that for the agriculture under the plantation sector, it would be PHP295 from PHP281.50 and non-plantation will PHP295 from PHP271.50.
Navarra said the details of the new wage rate will be discussed with employers and workers group in an Employers Forum here this July 9.
The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board 6 in the region conducted consultations with the Management Sector in Iloilo City on February 20, 2018 and with the Labor Sector in Bacolod City on February 28, 2018 after a petition for wage increase was filed last January 23 by the Philippine Agricultural, Commercial and Industrial Workers Union (PACIWU) seeking for the new minimum wage rates.
