CLARK, Pampanga -- Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez on Tuesday reported to President Rodrigo Duterte that "Go Lokal" marketing has earned PHP33 million as of May 2018 since it was launched in 2016.

Lopez made this disclosure during the 2018 National Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSME) Summit 2018, which was graced by President Duterte at the ASEAN Convention Center here.

In his welcome remarks, he said that to date, a total of 892 Negosyo Centers were put up nationwide, and 645 of these were established during the Duterte administration.

The DTI chief also tackled the MSME Development Plan 2017-2022’s Seven-Point Agenda and Anchor Programs.

With the theme "Accelerating 7Ms for Competitive MSMEs", Lopez said the summit seeks to convene MSME representatives across the country to provide them with opportunities to innovate and be competitive in their businesses by listening to the insights of experts in various business fields.

Upon his arrival at around 4:45 p.m. , President Duterte took time to view the photo wall of the DTI 7Ms Strategies — Mindset Change, Mastery, Mentoring, Money, Machine, Market Access and Models of Business — for fostering MSMEs of the country, and the booth for the Go Lokal products.

In his speech, the Chief Executive said that he is keen on reducing the forms and steps in doing business.

The President said he intends to issue orders to reduce to three days the processing time for application/renewal of business permits.

Likewise, he said he wants to put a stop to the “5-6” lending practice as it only burdens the lowly Filipinos even more.

He warned those involved in the 5-6 lending scheme to stop further burdening Filipinos with high interests.

At the start of the summit, the DTI held a “Markets Forum" as one of the sessions in the 2018 National MSME Summit that intends to tackle ways in tapping new markets and how branding, social connections, and data science matter in sustaining markets. (PNA)
