MANILA— Tropical storm "Inday" has slightly intensified as it moves northeast, enhancing the southwest monsoon or "habagat" that will bring moderate to heavy rains in most of Luzon on Friday.
In its 3 a.m. forecast, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said "Inday" was last observed at 995 kilometers east northeast of Basco, Batanes with maximum winds of 85 kph near the center and gusts of 105 kph, while moving at 15 kph.
It is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Saturday evening (July 21).
In its 7 a.m. heavy rainfall warning update, the state weather bureau said yellow level warning was raised over Metro Manila, Rizal, Cavite, Zambales, Tarlac and Nueva Ecija. It warned of possible heavy flooding in low-lying areas.
Light to moderate with occasional heavy rains is affecting Pampanga, Bulacan, Laguna, Batangas, northern Quezon and Bataan.
The rest of Luzon will have occasional rains due to southwest monsoon while Visayas and Mindanao will have cloudy skies with isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.
Fishermen are advised against going out to sea as the eastern seaboard of northern Luzon and the seaboard of central Luzon are rough to very rough. (PNA)
