BACOLOD CITY -- Urban township developer Megaworld has announced the roll-out of its PHP28-billion The Upper East development in this city starting this year.

The masterplan for the 34-hectare project to be developed in the next 10 years was presented by Harold Geronimo, Megaworld senior assistant vice president and head of public relations and media affairs, and Rachelle Peñaflorida, Megaworld Bacolod vice president for sales and marketing, in a press conference held at L’ Fisher Hotel on Monday afternoon.

“We are already mobilizing for the land development,” Geronimo said.

The township will have residential condominiums, shopping malls and commercial centers, mixed-use buildings, office towers, and hotels with facilities, including a transport hub, church, green and open parks and a central plaza.

Peñaflorida said The Upper East, situated a few blocks from the Bacolod City Government Center in the eastern side of the city, will be the first masterplanned mixed-use community in Bacolod that integrates the live-work-play components of an integrated urban township.

To rise within the township beginning this year is Megaworld’s first condominium development in Bacolod, One Regis, a nine-storey residential structure, offering 212 exclusive units with first-class amenities.

Peñaflorida said the price range for the condominium units is between PHP2.5 million and PHP7.5 million

Pre-selling starts July 31, she added.

“One Regis will be located right across the township plaza and beside the iconic Casa de Emperador. It will also be just a short walk away from the future mall development,” Peñaflorida said.

She noted that they are looking at a diversified clientele for The Upper East condominium development. Aside from residents of Bacolod and nearby localities, and Negrense families living in Metro Manila, part of the target market are overseas Filipino workers.

“We have a lot of inquiries from them. We are also open to foreign investors,” Peñaflorida said.

Geronimo added that through the office towers that will rise in the township, they aim to bring in new locators that need business processing outsourcing and traditional office sites.

Dubbed to become an iconic “central business district,” The Upper East will be highlighted by a 30-meter wide, six-lane Upper East Avenue, the township’s main road, that will connect Lopez Jaena Street to the Circumferential Road.

The Casa de Emperador, a mixed-use structure, featuring a unique architectural design will be another highlight.

A New York-inspired lifestyle mall with several interconnected structures will also be a feature of the township.

The Upper East is one of Megaworld’s two township developments in Negros Occidental with a total project cost of PHP35 million. The first is the PHP7-billion Northill Gateway located at the boundary of the cities of Bacolod and Talisay. (PNA)
