MANILA -- The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Thursday reported there were no Filipinos among the casualties of the 6.4-magnitude earthquake that hit East Lombok in Indonesia on Sunday.

The agency said the Philippine Embassy in Jakarta checked on the condition of some 250 Filipinos in Lombok and surrounding areas and reported that none of them were among the dead and injured.

The Embassy, for its part, extended its condolences to the families of those who perished in the earthquake. Philippine Ambassador to Indonesia Leehiong Wee said Indonesian authorities continue to provide aid to the victims.

The Indonesian National Disaster Mitigation Agency reported that as of July 30, there are 14 fatalities and more than 1,000 houses damaged by the tremor. A Malaysian citizen was among the death toll.

Despite the damage, Wee said the situation in the area remains normal with infrastructure still functioning and flights from the Lombok International Airport operating as scheduled. (PNA)
