LAOAG CITY—Residents here are excited for the trial run of the Laoag-Clark flight route, which is expected this month.

While the airline company and the flight schedules will be officially announced later, Governor Ma. Imelda Josefa “Imee” Marcos said in an interview that the opening of the Laog-Clark route is an offshoot of Ilocos Norte’s regular participation in the Philippines Travel Mart held annually in Manila.

She said this is a welcome development for Ilocos Norte to attract more tourists and more investments in the province.

“This is very good news! It will make my Cotabato visit much easier,” said Genevieve Arcangel, a registered nurse who married an Ilocano in Laoag City.

The new Laoag-Clark flight is expected thrice a week - every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

Except for some chartered flights, there are only two scheduled daily flights at the Laoag International Airport, with the Philippine Airlines as main carrier.

With an increasing demand for air travel, the Philippine Airlines is also currently studying the potential to introduce direct flights from Laoag to Cebu anytime soon. (PNA)
