‘Accreditation on wheels’ up for Cavite tourism establishments

TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite – The Cavite Provincial Tourism Office will conduct a 3-day ‘Accreditation on Wheels’ under the auspices of the Department of Tourism (DOT) on Sept. 18 to 20 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the CaCoDec Bldg. at the Provincial Capitol here.

Cavite Provincial Tourism Head Elinia Imelda Rozelle S. Sangalang said Wednesday the mobile accreditation process aims to boost the provincial tourism sector and provide a convenient venue, where local tourism and leisure establishments can apply and process their DOT accreditation.

Sangalang has enjoined owners and operators of tourist inn, hotel, resort, spa, including tourist land transport operators, agri-tourism farm/site, travel and tour agency, restaurant and tourism recreation center.

Likewise, she also encouraged practicing tour guides to apply for their DOT accreditation.

Cavite, one of the nearest complete destination from Manila, boasts of complete leisure destinations that meet tourist preference for amusement and adventure, beach, family oriented gatherings, food cravings or a taste for luxury in vacation or holiday escapades.

Applicants for DOT accreditation are advised to bring their documentary requirements when they apply such as valid Mayor’s permit, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Accreditation (single proprietorship) or SEC Registration Certificate and Articles of Incorporation and by-laws (for corporate and cooperatives), notarized list of all employees with TIN, designation and nationality;

For hotel inn, hotel and resorts - a Comprehensive Liability Insurance Policy Premium is also required, with a minimum coverage of PHP 200,000 for tourist inn, and PHP 500,000 for each hotel and resort.

Spa owners need to submit a valid Department of Health (DOH) license for duly registered massage therapist and massage supervisors, aside from the govt permit and list of employees.

For Tourist Land Transport Operators, additional requirements include a valid LTFRB Tourist Transport Service Franchise and LTO Registration of the vehicles are required, with a valid NAIA Concession Agreement for Tourist Coupon/Metered Taxi Operator and proof of attendance to DOT conducted seminar for tourist drivers.

Tour guides must bring their valid occupational/working permit (except for Senior Citizens), certificate of training to the tour guide seminar conducted by DOT or DOT accredited training center, valid health/medical certificate and NBI clearance.

Agri-tourism farm/sites and restaurants, as well as tourist recreation centers are advised to bring a valid government issued permit (for single proprietor, corporation and cooperative) and list of employees (with TIN, etc).

On the other hand, travel and tour agency must show proof of a working capital of PHP500,000 (for corporations, partnerships, this is for paid up/partners capital, while single proprietors are required to submit original copy certification with cheque writer, proof of 3 years minimum managerial experience in Travel and Tour Agency or proof of passing the Travel and Tour Agency Management Training of the DOT (for General Managers).

Those with branch offices, an affidavit executed by the General Manager declaring the existence of their branch office/s is/are required.

Known as the historical capital of the Philippines, Cavite is also home to various historical sites, and practices age-old rituals like the sanghiyang (dance on fire) and Mardicas (war dance of the pirates).

Cavite likewise boasts of various festivities, marked with its traditional ‘karakol’ dance (religious procession) that reflects on the local folks’ religious, agricultural side and their penchant for merry making.

Aside from this convenient accreditation assistance, services, the Cavite Tourism is also engaging tourism students for a Tourism Forum on the topic “Tourism and the Digital Transformation,” at the Auditorium of the Lyceum of the Philippines in General Trias City on Sept. 25.
