Army welcomes surrender of 36 communist terrorist group members

LAOAG CITY—The Philippine Army welcomed the voluntary surrender of at least 36 underground members of the Communist Terrorist Groups (CTG) to the 81st Infantry (Spartan) Batallion in Ilocos Sur last Sept. 26.

The surrenderers were composed of nine members of the Kabataang Makabayan, a CTG solid mass organization in a remote Legazpi village in Galimuyod, Ilocos Sur, 10 other members of Kabataang Makabayan and 17 members of the Samahang Magsasaka in Bugnay village, Candon, Ilocos Sur.

They were presented to their respective municipal mayors.

In a press statement, Major General Felimon T. Santos, Jr. of the Philippine Army said, “it is never too late” for the surrenderers to change, and the earlier, the better so that they will have a plenty of time to live in peace with their families.

Santos assured the surrenderees will be welcomed and protected as he urged all others to quit from running and hiding and surrender now that there is still time for them to change. (PR)
