IMUS CITY, Cavite – City mayor Emmanuel L. Maliksi and 3rd District Representative Alex L. Advincula will lead city and health officials in soft launching the city’s very own public hospital on Pedro Reyes St., Malagasang I-G village on Friday, Oct 12.
City information and concurrent tourism chief Edgardo ‘Jay’ Saquilayan said Thursday that the city officials conceptualized the establishment of the city public hospital “to address the absence of a government hospital in the district and to implement health reforms in order to establish a more responsive health system in the locality”.
The soft launch is to "test the waters," so the city government could gauge and amend necessary policies and procedures based on actual health needs and patients' traffic, Saquilayan said.
Department of Health Secretary Francisco Duque is the invited guest of honor and speaker at this momentous occasion.
After its soft launch, the Ospital ng Imus will only accept outpatient, with its emergency room ready and available, Saquilayan said.
Once fully operational, the PHP300-million, three-storey hospital on a 4,000-square-meter lot donated by Advincula, will have 22 wards and 19 private rooms with 130 beds, five doctor rooms and a number of medical service and personnel rooms.
A Level 1 hospital with major and minor operating capabilities, the Ospital ng Imus will offer ancillary services such as laboratory, x-ray, and ultrasound.
Chief of Hospital Dr. Edgardo Figueroa will lead at least 20 doctors, 25 nurses and 15 consultants, including specialists in its day-to-day services.
In the years to come, a Medical Arts Building worth PHP35 million will be constructed adjacent to the hospital.
The hospital launching is timed for the feast of the city’s patron saint ‘Nana Pilar’ (Our Lady of the Pillar) and birth date of the city mayor.
Although the hospital is intended for Imuseños, especially the indigents and its senior citizens, it will also cater to other residents in need of medical attention.
The hospital is one of biggest projects of the local government in recent years.
Built alongside the new Gen. Pantaleon Garcia Senior High School buildings, the Imus Grandstand, and a multi-purpose sports oval, the new state-of-the-art Ospital ng Imus, the first public hospital in the district, aims to promote quality, affordable, and accessible healthcare for Imuseños and Caviteños alike.
Friday's soft launch activity will be followed by a groundbreaking ceremony for the new city hall and blessing of the Imus city Grandstand. (PNA)
