DAVAO CITY — Taiwanese investors are interested in a joint venture with farm producers in Davao, particularly on grains and food processing industry.

Mindanao Business Council (MinBC) executive director Rolando Torres said a possible joint venture will be discussed during the Taiwan Trade and Investment Delegation Meeting 2018 on October 19 at the Apo View Hotel, this city.

Torres is positive that Taiwanese traders will find partners during the business matching and product exhibition.

He said 15 participating companies spearheaded by Taiwan Trade Center-Manila (TAITRA) are participating in the exhibition where industry products will be showcased.

He said the investors are interested in a partnership with local businessmen engaged in large-scale to small agri products.

The local farmers will be represented through the cooperatives, he added.

Torres said the joint venture could include sharing of production technology through equipment and types of machinery.

"We encourage the local players to take advantage of what these Taiwanese investors could offer," he said. He said when this joint venture is materialized, it would boost the farming industry and increase productivity geared towards high-level of food security.

Torres said the investors are also exploring businesses on organic edible products.

"Although it is still exploratory we expect that these prospective investors have done their homework and realize the potential of Mindanao," he said. (Digna D. Banzon/PNA)
