MANILA -- The Philippine National Police (PNP) announced that the five-day filing period of Certificate of Candidacy (COC) for the 2019 mid-term polls was generally peaceful.

PNP chief Director General Oscar Albayalde said that no crime or untoward incident in connection with the process were recorded.

We are thankful because we have no reports of incidents from the regions and in other registration areas, especially at the Comelec office where aspirants running for national posts filed their candidacy)," Albayalde told reporters after the COC filing period ended on Wednesday.

We do not have any incidents of quarrels, heated arguments or even heated exchange of words and minor incidents or whatever in the different regions),” the PNP Chief added.

Albayalde also thanked police officers across the country for their efforts in ensuring the safety and security of all candidates.

A total of 337 aspirants, including 152 senatorial bets and 185 party-list organizations, have filed their COCs and Certificates of Nomination and Acceptance (CONAs) for next year's polls. (PNA)
