DAGUPAN CITY -- Department of Transportation Undersecretary Thomas ‘Tim’ Orbos has filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) for representative of the 1st legislative district of Pangasinan at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) provincial office here on Wednesday.

Orbos was accompanied by Governor Amado Espino III, and former governors Rafael Colet, his brother Oscar Orbos, and representative Amado Espino Jr. of the 5th district of Pangasinan, together with family members and allies.

“I wanted to be included in the roster of what we can call ‘good leaders’ in Pangasinan. We need good governance, we need to revert to the good old days (in the first district), which also the governor and our seniors did,” he said in an interview.

Orbos said he intends to focus on transportation issues, promising to fix problems, most especially with ‘colorum’ vehicles.

“The first district is a hotspot for tourism, we need to focus on transportation,” he noted.

Orbos believes he has the support of the residents.

He is running against the Celestes, who have been in the post since 2001.

“The Celestes are our friends. But this time, the needs of the district come first before our friendship. We will have a good campaign, we will talk about issues. We want them to show what the people should be proud of, what they really need, and we believe,” Orbos added.

Orbos is running under the Partido Demokratiko  Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) party. (PNA)
