'Rosita'-affected families rise to 60.3K

MANILA -- The number of families affected by Typhoon Rosita in 1,360 barangays in the Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Eastern Visayas and Cordillera regions has climbed to 60,360, or about 229,846 persons, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported Friday.

In its 6 p.m. update, signed by NDRRMC executive director Ricardo Jalad, the council estimated that 247 families or 840 individuals are being served in 21 evacuation centers.

It also confirmed that two persons were injured in Calabarzon and one remains missing in the Cordillera region.

Meanwhile, the NDRRMC reported that 7,849 houses were damaged -- 7,009 sustained partial damages while 840 were wrecked -- in Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Eastern Visayas and Cordillera.

A total of 98 road sections and 10 bridges were also affected by the typhoon in Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, and Cordillera.

Of these, 43 road sections and five bridges are still impassable. (PNA)
