COTABATO CITY--Authorities shot dead two drug suspects who allegedly resisted arrest during a police drug buy-bust operation over the weekend.

Killed in the shootout with cops around 3:30 p.m. Saturday were suspects Abdulrauff Dimacisil, 41, of Barangay Poblacion 2, and Salahudin Mantawil, 35, of Sitio Lugay-Lugay, Barangay Bagua 1, both in this city.

Chief Insp. Tirso Pascual, city police station 4 commander, said the suspects fired first at their poseur-buyer after sensing that they were dealing with a cop.

“A shootout erupted when the suspects refused to yield,” Pascual said.

He added that agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao backed them up in the operation, carried out near the Delta Bridge in Barangay Poblacion 1.

Recovered from the slain suspects were two big and three small packets of “shabu” (crystal meth) with an estimated street value of PHP15,000, the PHP500 marked money, a hand grenade, and the motorcycle allegedly used in their illegal activities.

Pascual said the suspects had been the subject of police surveillance for the past several weeks. (PNA)
