2 'most wanted' men nabbed in Zamboanga

ZAMBOANGA CITY--Authorities arrested two most wanted persons, including one with ties to the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG), in separate law enforcement operations in the region, an official said Thursday.

Chief Inspector Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) information officer, identified the arrested suspects as Noel Mohammad Anduhol, 26, and Carlito Dela Peña, 44.

Galvez said Anduhol was arrested through a warrant around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Zamboanga City Medical Center (ZCMC)

Anduhol, who has ties with the ASG, is a member of the Barahama Ali crime group and listed as the Top 6 Most Wanted Person in Zamboanga Sibugay, the police official said. The suspect has standing warrants of arrest including for murder in Ipil town.

Police said Anduhol was involved in the series of kidnapping, robbery and proliferation of illegal drugs in Barangay Tenan, Ipil. He also allegedly killed a soldier and burned a police patrol car in Ipil in May 2014.

Dela Peña, meanwhile, was arrested around 10:20 p.m. Wednesday in Barangay Bagong Silang, Siay, Zamboanga Sibugay. He is the Top 8 Most Wanted Person in Bayog, Zamboanga del Sur, and has a standing warrant of arrest for frustrated murder in Pagadian City, police said. (PNA)
