Laguna Lake Highway now open to motorists

November 15, 2018, 6:31 pm

MANILA -- The Laguna Lake Highway is now completed and open to motorists, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announced Thursday.

The DPWH inaugurated the PHP1.28-billion Laguna Lake Highway which spans 6.94 kilometers at Barangay Lower Bicutan in Taguig City.

The four-lane highway is expected to ease traffic congestion between the eastern part of Metro Manila and the province of Rizal.

“We are happy to announce that this toll-free road will be able to cut travel time from Bicutan to Taytay and vice versa from an hour to just 30 minutes or less,” DPWH Secretary Mark Villar said in a statement.

It also features a 3-meter-wide protected bike lane and a 1.5 meter-wide sidewalk, providing a faster and safe travel experience to motorists as well as bikers and pedestrians.

The Laguna Lake Highway will serve as an alternate route for motorists to avoid heavy traffic along Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) and Circumferential Road 5 (C5) when going to and from Rizal and the eastern corridor of Metro Manila. (PR)
