MANILA -- Former special assistant to the President (SAP) Christopher Lawrence "Bong" Go has vowed to improve health care services across the country if given a Senate seat.

(If we have funds, we will use them in government hospitals where there are not enough beds. How are the patients going to recover if they are outside the ward or in the corridor?),” Go told reporters Tuesday after delivering a speech at the 2nd Regional Congress of the Philippine Councilors League in Quezon City.

He added that the Malasakit Centers would prioritize the sick and would make the processes in securing health care services easier.

"With Malasakit Center, I plan to legislate, institutionalize sa isang kwarto nalang po ang DOH, DSWD, PCSO and PhilHealth. Wala na pong kailangang requirements basta (the Department of Health, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office and PhilHealth would be in just one room. Within the day, the whole process would be completed, especially the senior citizens, and the disabled need not wait in line. There will be no requirements if you are a) Filipino, you are qualified," he said.

Citing the difficulties of being an overseas Filipino worker (OFWs) child, Go said he plans to provide them with free school supplies, such as notebooks.

(Many OFWs approach me and ask for help to go home and they need legal assistance abroad. This is the time when a department must focus on their concerns,)" he said, adding that most of them are victims of illegal recruiters. (PNA)
