MANILA -- The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is looking to conduct mock polls in overseas voting in Cambodia.

“(It will be conducted in) Phom Penh. So that we can anticipate possible errors during election day and take steps to prevent them,” Comelec Commissioner Rowena Guanzon said in an interview Tuesday.

In a Twitter post, the poll body official also urged Filipinos to encourage their family members living abroad to vote in the May 2019 polls.

At the same time, Guanzon added that they would also like to test their draft General Instructions (GI) for special board of canvassers (SBOC).

“We are also testing our draft General Instructions (GI) for special board of canvassers (SBOC) before our Commission En Banc approves the final GI,” she said.

“To test the knowledge of Department of Foreign Affairs-SBOC, we will also have a short exam for them on the GI,” the Comelec official added.

The voting period for overseas absentee voting (OAV) will be from April 13 to May 13, 2019.

They will be voting for candidates running for national positions only, particularly 12 senators and one party-list group. (PNA)
