KAWIT, Cavite – The family of the great revolutionary leader, and the country’s first president is “most pleased” that a public high school located outside Cavite will pay tribute to their great grandfather by installing a bust on Dec 10.

Angelo Jarin Aguinaldo, a descendant speaking on the family’s behalf, said the bust would be installed around 8 a.m. at Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo High School (CGEAHS) located along Boni Serrano Avenue, Quezon City.

“It stemmed from the absence of an Aguinaldo monument in the school, which used to be a part of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and understandably the (General’s) monument is inside the camp,” Aguinaldo said Tuesday.

CGEAHS Alumni Batch of 1977 initiated the project “to promote a deeper understanding of our great grandfather as a youngster”.

The ceremonies will be led by Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista and CGEAHS alumnae Myrna de Persia-Medina, now National Police Commission’s (Napolcom’s) Acting Executive Officer.

The General, who became President at a young age of 29, maybe synonymous to a plethora of things – from his eventful and exciting life, his courageous and bold political actions, and the various accusations being thrown towards his name.

Aguinaldo’s most important role in history is his presidential proclamation of the Philippine Independence in Kawit, Cavite which paved the way for the birth of the Philippine Republic on January 23, 1899.

The bust will help advocate his legacy and the family truly appreciate the honor, Angelo said. (PNA)
