MANILA -- Kuwaiti authorities, in coordination with the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait, are investigating the alleged suicide of a Filipina household service worker in Sabahiya on November 28, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said.

"The Department of Foreign Affairs expresses its condolences to the family of a Filipino worker who died after reportedly jumping from her employer’s residence in Kuwait," Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary Elmer Cato said Tuesday night.

The agency did not identify the woman, except that she was from Isabela. According to Chargé d’Affaires Noordin Lomondot, the worker reportedly jumped off the third floor of her employer’s residence in Sabahiya.

The DFA assured the victim's next of kin in the Philippines of its assistance in the repatriation of her remains.

The Filipina's death follows an alleged suicide case of another overseas Filipino worker in United Arab Emirates (UAE) last week.

The 22-year-old Filipina was reported to have fallen off the third floor of a building in Ajman on November 23, and was declared dead upon arrival at the Sheikh Khalifa Hospital.

The Consulate General is coordinating with Ajman authorities in the investigation of her death and in the repatriation of her remains. (PNA)
