SUBIC BAY FREEPORT -- Bacoor, Cavite Mayor Lani Mercado on Sunday said she has just one wish this Christmas - for her husband, jailed former Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla, Jr. to come home and be with their family.

She noted that the decision of Sandiganbayan's First Division on whether Revilla would be freed or not will be known on Friday, December 7.

“Matagal na naming inaasam-asam na makapiling siya. Di biro ang mawala ang ama ng tahanan, di biro ang mawala sa iyong piling ang asawa (We have been longing for him to be with us. For a family not to have a father and husband is not a joke),” Mercado said.

She said she is hoping and praying that God will touch the hearts of the judges handling her husband's case.

“Sana makapiling na namin si Bong ngayong Pasko (We wish Bong to be with us this Christmas),” Mercado said.

The Bacoor City mayor considered the incarceration of husband for four years and five months already too long.

She blamed the past administration for what happened to her husband and former Senators Jinggoy Estrada and Juan Ponce Enrile, who are all facing plunder and graft charges on allegations that they pocketed millions of pork barrel funds.

Estrada and Enrile are already out on bail but Revilla remained in jail.

Mercado was here as she represented her husband who is running for reelection in the signing of an alliance deal between Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) and Partido Balikatan ng Bataan at the Subic International Convention Center.

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, HNP chair, and Governor Albert Garcia, Balikatan president, signed the agreement witnessed by 11 of 14 senatorial candidates endorsed by Hugpong. (PNA)
