GENERAL TRIAS CITY, Cavite - A suspected peddler of shabu was killed during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Bacao 2 here while five ‘Street-level Targets” were arrested in Barangays San Francisco and Santiago, respectively, during anti-narcotics operations midnight Tuesday.

Supt. Paul T. Bometivo, city police chief here identified the slain suspect as John Paulo delos Reyes, alias “Pok Pok”, a Bacao 2 resident. Delos Reyes, he said, refused to yield to arresting lawmen during Tuesday midnight’s buy-bust operation.

Bometivo said police undercover agents, acting as poseur buyers, were able to transact with the suspect and were about to introduce themselves. However, delos Reyes suddenly drew his cal. 38 “paltik” revolver and shot at the operating officers, prompting lawmen to fire back.

Delos Reyes, who suffered several gunshot wounds in his body, was rushed to the Kalayaan Medical Hospital in Kawit, Cavite by members of the city's Drug Enforcement Unit but was pronounced dead-on-arrival by the duty physician.

Recovered from the crime site were two fired cartridge cases; one caliber .38 revolver without serial number with one fired cartridge case and three live ammunition inside the chamber; seven heat sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected “shabu” and the marked money.

Bometivo also said delos Reyes' family refused an autopsy on their kin’s remains.

Meanwhile, the four drug personalities arrested during buy-bust operation at about 5:30 p.m. in Sunny Broke 1, San Francisco village were identified as Joefferson Campaña Lariosa alias “Joey”; Georgelito Campaña Ladres; Jay Cabrera Gonzales; and Kingloy Verdida Marcaban.

Authorities confiscated from the suspects seven heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu and marked money.

Another drug personality was also arrested in a buy-bust operation an hour before midnight Tuesday in Barangay Santiago.

Police drug enforcement team identified the suspect as Ricardo Macorol Panganiban alias “Intoy,” who was found to be in possession of nine heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu and the marked money.

The five drug suspects were brought to the city police station for the filing of criminal complaint for Violation of Republic Act 9165 or the “Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002” under Sec 5, and 11.

The confiscated pieces of evidence were submitted to the PNP Crime Laboratory Office for chemical analysis. (Dennis Abrina/PNA)
