CABANATUAN CITY, Nueva Ecija -- Police seized guns, explosives and several rounds of ammunition for different types of firearms during a raid Wednesday afternoon in Barangay Doña Josefa, Palayan City, this province.

Senior Supt. Leon Victor Rosete, acting director of the Nueva Ecija Police Provincial Office, said on Thursday that lawmen raided the residence of suspect Rejan Aligem, 41, on the strength of a warrant issued by the Palayan City Regional Trial Court Branch 40.

Police are still backtracking the records of Aligem, who was arrested during the raid.

Among those confiscated were one .45-caliber pistol, three .22-caliber revolvers, a hand grenade, one stun grenade, an air gun and 47 pieces of assorted bullets, including those for Armalite rifle and .30 Carbine rifle.

Rosete said the suspect has been charged with violations of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearm and Ammunition Regulation Act.

Rosete said the arrest of the suspect and seizure of the firearms proved "that police of Nueva Ecija are working religiously in eradicating this unrestricted keeping of firearms and explosives that can destroy countless lives." (PNA)
