MANILA -- Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar vowed to assist a Cagayan de Oro disc jockey who recently suffered a stroke.

During a media gathering with members of the Cagayan de Oro Press Club on Dec. 7, Andanar was informed of DJ Mikael Grey's (Mike Montalban in real life) condition.

The PCOO chief visited the Capitol University Medical Center, where Montalban was supposedly admitted. The radio announcer, however, was already discharged when he got there.

The two finally met at Montalban's house, where Andanar promised he would personally assist the DJ with his hospital finances.

Montalban's daughter, Mikka, said their family still needs to produce a huge amount of money to pay for her father’s operation and recovery.

Montalban, dubbed as the “Rick Dees of the Philippines”, is considered one of the living legend DJs, not only in CDO, but also in the Visayas and Mindanao.

Andanar said he regards the disc jockey as one of the biggest influences in his career and the main reason why he became a broadcaster. (PNA)
