ZAMBOANGA CITY -- An alleged drug dealer and “contract killer” was killed in an anti-drug operation in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay, a top police official said Monday.

Chief Supt. Emmanuel Luis Licup, Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) director, identified the slain suspect as Esmael Lucman Ebrahim, 38, a high-value target “level 2” drug personality and an alleged “gun for hire.”

Ebrahim was killed in a buy-bust operation around 2:30 p.m. Saturday in an abandoned house in Purok 2, Barangay Poblacion, Buug, Zamboanga del Sur.

Licup said upon sensing he was transacting illegal drugs with an undercover policeman, Ebrahim pulled a handgun and “tried to shoot” but “failed to fire” while running towards the back of the house.

Ebrahim was wounded when the police “fired back” and was rushed to Saint John Hospital, but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

Licup said recovered from the slain suspect were a caliber .38 revolver with live ammunition, four small heat-sealed plastic sachets of suspected "shabu," and illegal drug paraphernalia. (PNA)
