CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan -- Former Special Assistant to the President (SAP) Christopher Lawrence "Bong" Go and local officials led the opening of the province’s first Malasakit Center at the Bulacan Medical Center in this city on Tuesday.

The Malasakit Center is a program of the Duterte administration that serves as a "one-stop shop" to hasten the delivery of health services and provide poor patients access to free medicines.

Together with Go in the launching program were Governor Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado, Vice Governor Daniel Fernando and First District Rep. Jonathan Sy-Alvarado.

Go said patients, particularly the indigents confined at the Bulacan Medical Center, can now avail at the Malasakit Center medical assistance from various government agencies such as the Department of Health, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, and Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation.

He also said establishment of the center aims to help beneficiaries have “zero balance” on their medical expenses.

The former presidential aide also turned over PHP10-million worth of medical assistance to the Bulacan Malasakit Center.

Alvarado and the rest of the provincial government officials and employees expressed their gratitude for the big help.

"Do not thank me, it is the taxes being paid to the government. This is your fund. This is government fund which President Duterte returns to you," Go said.

He said he was impressed with the facilities of the Bulacan Medical Center and lauded the provincial officials for properly using government fund.

The Malasakit Center in Bulacan is the fifth in Central Luzon and 18th overall. (PNA)
