December 13, 2018, 5:52 pm

NOVELETA, Cavite - A suspected drug peddler was killed in a shootout with police during a drug buy-bust operation here Wednesday.

Senior Insp. Rosalino Panlaqui, local police chief, said Allan Rey Isidro, 42, alias "Tisoy", a resident of Barangay Bagbag 2, Rosario town, died upon arrival at the Cavite Medical Center in Cavite City due to gunshot wounds.

Panlaqui said the suspect sold two pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing shabu to a police poseur-buyer during the operation conducted by the local Drug enforcement Unit (DEU) Team, led by PO3 Cesar Datu.

The suspect drew his short firearm and fired at the law enforcers after sensing he was dealing with a police officer, he said.

The police returned fire and killed the suspect, Panlaqui said.

Crime scene investigators from the PNP Provincial Crime Laboratory in Cuartel, Imus City, led by Chief Insp. Oliver Dechitan, recovered from the possession of the suspect eight pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, other drug paraphernalia, two spent shells for 9-mm gun, a caliber .38 revolver loaded with five live ammo, one fired bullet and seven 100-peso bills, including the PHP300 buy bust money.

The recovered pieces of evidence are now under the custody of the Cavite Crime Laboratory. (Dennis Abrina/PNA)
