NBI nabs 12 Chinese nationals for illegal online gambling

MANILA -- A dozen Chinese nationals were the latest to fall in the government's crackdown on operators of illegal online gambling, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) announced Thursday.

In a press briefing, NBI Director Dante A. Gierran identified them as Chen Ya Ting, Chen Chengang, Sun Quiao Yan, Wei Bing, Lei Shi Feng, Gao Cheng Feng, Lin Jin, Wang Hai Tao, Wu Cheng Pin, Ruan CHeng Hui, Gao Fei and Chen Long Xi.

NBI agents arrested the group during the implementation of a warrant to search, seize and examine computer data (WSSECD) at a house located on #22 11B Phase 1-4 Mangosteen St.,Trinidad VIllage, Barangay Calibutbut, Bacolor, Pampanga last Dec. 11.

Agents from the NBI Digital Forensic Laboratory conducted live data RAM capture.

Seized from the area were 15 mobile phone devices, 11 desktop computers, two laptop computers and two routers.

They were presented for inquest proceeding before the Department of Justice for violation of Presidential Decree 1602, otherwise known as "Prescribing Stiffer Penalties on Illegal Gambling", in relation to Republic Act 10175, which is also known as the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012. (PNA)
