CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY--The City Council has approved the local government's PHP8-billion Annual Investment Plan (AIP) budget for 2019 on Thursday.

Approved unanimously, the AIP budget was endorsed by the committees on planning and development, and on laws and rules.

Councilor Ian Mark Nacaya, who chairs both committees, said the AIP allocation constitutes the third annual component of the updated City Development Investment Program (CDIP) for 2017 to 2019 consisting of programs, activities, and projects of the city.

Under the AIP, Nacaya said PHP3.3 billion will be utilized for economic development services, PHP2.8 billion for social development services, and PHP1.9 billion for general public services.

Vice Mayor Renier Uy said the bulk of the AIP budget consists of economic development services that will include programs for tourism and cultural affairs, agricultural productivity, community development, and environmental projects.

AIP will also fund the Oro Youth Development programs, City Sports and Cultural Development, and City Housing and Health programs as well as the services and programs for Indigenous Peoples (IP) and for emergency welfare and crisis intervention. (PNA)
