'Usman' death toll being validated climbs to 85

MANILA -- The number of deaths being blamed on Tropical Depression "Usman" and is being validated by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) has climbed to 85.

This was bared by the agency in its 6 a.m. update Wednesday signed and released by NDRRMC executive director Ricardo Jalad.

The death toll, which came from Mimaropa, Bicol, and Eastern Visayas is still being still validated by the NDRRMC Management of the Dead and the Missing Cluster.

In the same update, Jalad said the number of missing and injured, which is also undergoing validation, is placed at 20 and 40, respectively, and came also from the said regions.

"Usman"-affected families are placed at 45,348 or around 191,597 persons residing in 457 barangays in Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol and Eastern Visayas.

Of the above-mentioned figures, 6,637 families or 24,894 individuals are being aided in 170 evacuation centers while 12,132 families or 54,665 persons are being assisted outside.

Agriculture damage in the Bicol Region was placed at PHP342,233,565.24. (PNA)
