COTABATO CITY -- The relatives of two persons who died in the pre-New Year bombing here have received financial aid from Malacañang on Wednesday.
Dr. Danda Juanday, the city administrator, said the relatives of Jonathan Torribiano and Mariam Kali, received cash assistance from the office of President Rodrigo R. Duterte.
Torribiano and Kali both died in the bombing in front of South Seas Mall on Monday afternoon while several others were injured. Suspected terrorists had set off an improvised bomb along rows of sidewalk vendors in front of the mall.
“A staff from Malacañang came over and distributed the financial aid,” Juanday said without revealing the amount of assistance. He said the injured victims who remain in the hospital and those who were allowed to go home also received financial aid.
Aside from the assistance from Malacañang, former Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence "Bong" Go also extended separate assistance to the blast victims.
Juanday also announced that Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana and Interior Secretary Eduardo Año are scheduled to meet Thursday afternoon with the city's peace and order council to get updates on the ongoing investigation. (PNA)
