KIDAPAWAN CITY -- An engineer working at the local government of Pagalungan, Maguindanao was shot dead by a still unidentified gunman inside a passenger van plying the Maguindanao-North Cotabato route Tuesday afternoon.

Engineer Mustapha Andoy, 45, who works at the municipal engineering office of Pagalungan town, succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds from a .45-caliber pistol.

Kadjack Andoy, chairperson of Barangay Tunggol, Datu Montawal, Maguindanao, said his brother was heading to his boarding house in nearby Kabacan town on board a passenger van, which the suspect boarded, around 3 p.m. when the shooting took place.

While the van was traversing the national highway in Barangay Tunggol, Datu Montawal, Maguindanao, the suspect stopped the van, telling its driver that he will get off.

Alighting from the van, the suspect shot Andoy in the head and body, killing him on the spot.

The gunman fled on board a waiting motorbike driven by an accomplice.

“My brother Mustapha has not confided to me any problem that he was facing either from work or neighbors before he was killed,” Kadjack said over a local radio station.

Being a Muslim, the victim was buried shortly before sundown Tuesday. (PNA)
