8 suspects nabbed, P237K ‘shabu’ seized in NegOcc

BACOLOD CITY -- Eight persons were arrested while PHP237,500 worth of suspected shabu were seized during separate buy-bust operations in six cities across Negros Occidental on Tuesday, police reports showed.

In Bacolod, personnel of Police Station 3’s Drug Enforcement Team confiscated seven sachets of shabu weighing at least 6 grams, valued at PHP80,000, from two suspects in Sitio Sibucao, Barangay Banago at about 12:07 a.m.

The suspects were identified as Leobert Jalando-on, 21, a newly-identified drug personality, and his companion Ruel Bebiera, 39.

Three other operations were conducted in southern Negros, including the cities of La Carlota, Himamaylan, and Kabankalan.

In La Carlota, 22-year-old Johnrich Sacudit was arrested in Purok Santan, Barangay RSB at about 3:05 p.m. after he sold a sachet of shabu worth PHP300 to a poseur-buyer.

Sacudit, a construction worker, was also found to be carrying five more small sachets, all valued at PHP2,500.

In Himamaylan, high-value target Kristian Paul Castillo, 28, was arrested with Leo Roldan, 32, in Sitio Kalaya-an, Purok 5, Barangay Aguisan at about 7:40 p.m.

Castillo, also a drug surrenderer, yielded two small sachets, one of which is the buy-bust item, and a big sachet of shabu along with drug paraphernalia such as tooter and lighters and some cash.

Roldan was found in possession of two small sachets of shabu.

All five sachets seized had an estimated market value of PHP20,000.

In neighboring Kabankalan, Bonifacio Titong Jr., a newly-identified drug personality, and Cristobal Titong, a high-value target, were caught along Oklahoma St., FZO Subdivision in Barangay 1 at about 11 p.m.

Titong Jr., 30, sold a sachet of shabu worth PHP500 to an undercover policeman. Both suspects attempted to escape, but they were cornered and yielded more of the prohibited substance and some cash.

Cristobal Titong was found with seven sachets of shabu worth about PHP12,000 and cash amounting to PHP732.

In the north, Silay resident Roland Contantino, 46, was arrested in his neighborhood in Sitio Berranio, Barangay Lantad at about 3:40 p.m.

The suspect, who is included in the police’s drug target list, yielded 10 sachets of shabu weighing at least 5 grams with a market value of PHP75,000 and several drug paraphernalia.

In San Carlos, during the operation at about 7:45 p.m., operatives seized about 4 grams of shabu worth PHP48,000 in San Juan Tunga, Barangay 5, but suspect Rogelio Despi evaded arrest.

The team confiscated six elongated sachets and one big sachet of shabu after Despi fled. (PNA)
