ZAMBOANGA CITY - A health official in the province of Tawi-Tawi was found dead Tuesday inside his room at a pension house in Barangay Canelar, this city, the police disclosed.

Chief Insp. Elmer Solon, chief of the Police Station 11, identified the health official as Dr. Emmanuel Bactong, a native of Zamboanga Sibugay province.

Solon said Bactong was assigned as a dentist of the Tawi-Tawi Provincial Health Office.

He said investigation showed that Bactong, who checked in four days ago, had a habit of requesting for a glass of water from the room boy before going to bed at night.

He said the pension house personnel, worried that something was not right, decided to open Bactong’s room around 8 a.m. Tuesday since the glass of water he requested on Monday night remained untouched outside his door.

He said the pension house personnel saw Bactong lifeless on his bed when they opened the door and reported to the police.

He said the health official might have died of natural causes since there were no signs of foul play and that Bactong had no visitors during his stay at the pension house. (PNA)
