COTABATO CITY -- The Police Regional Office 12 (Soccsksargen) sent off Thursday a total of 396 cops to help secure the upcoming Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) plebiscite in Cotabato City this January 21.
The augmentation force is composed of 139 personnel from the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 12, another 122 personnel from the City and Provincial Mobile Force Company, and 135 others as standby/reactionary personnel.
“This one of those life-changing events for us. An event that we can be proud of, thinking that we have become part of this historical undertaking,” Chief Supt. Eliseo Tam Rasco, director of PRO-12, told the contingent during the send-off ceremony at the PRO-12 grandstand in General Santos City.
He said PRO-12 remains ready for any eventuality that may arise during the plebiscite period.
“More than these, I am hoping that this event could put an end to the conflicts that have long been tormenting the people in the region where the innocent are always the ones who suffer the aftermath,” Rasco said.
Among the contingent members are police personnel trained to act as Board of Election Inspectors (BEIs), who could replace BEI teachers in cases the latter cannot perform their functions during the plebiscite.
The same police contingent will proceed to North Cotabato province to secure the conduct of the same plebiscite slated on February 6, 2019. (PNA)
