DUMAGUETE CITY – Unidentified motorcycle-riding suspects shot dead a drug surrenderer in Vallehermoso, the northernmost town of Negros Oriental.

A police report from the Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office (NORPPO) identified the victim as Teresito Pata Ondang, 47, married, a resident of Sitio Lico, Barangay Bulado in the neighboring city of Guihulngan.

Initial police investigation disclosed that Ondang was driving his motorcycle around 7:40 p.m. when four suspects wearing bonnets and riding on two motorcycles rode up to him at a dimly-lit area along Aguinaldo Street in Poblacion Vallehermoso and shot him several times.

The suspects fled toward Guihulngan City and managed to evade a police checkpoint at Barangay Puan, Vallehermoso, taking a different route instead, the police said.

Ondang was rushed to a hospital in nearby San Carlos City, Negros Occidental but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Investigators recovered from the crime scene five pieces of fired cartridges and a fired slug of a caliber .45 pistol.

The victim’s cellular phone was recovered and the police are hoping to find some vital information to help solve the crime. (PNA)
